Zelenskyy: Ukraine, Azerbaijan to strengthen strategic partnership through joint efforts
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Azerbaijan and Ukraine will be able to maximize strategic cooperation through joint efforts.
He made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of May 28 – Azerbaijan's Independence Day, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani presidential press service.
“The relations between our countries have deep historical roots and are based on mutual trust, respect, and fruitful cooperation. I am confident that through joint efforts we will be able to maximize the existing potential of the strategic partnership between Kyiv and Baku in all areas of mutual interest,” he said.
He noted that Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated this year, said that there is no harder path leading to independence.
“Despite all the difficulties, our countries are confidently moving forward on this path. At this difficult time for our state and the entire civilized world, when Russia's war against Ukraine continues, I would like to express gratitude for Azerbaijan's consistent position in supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country within internationally recognised borders. I would also like to once again confirm Ukraine's unwavering position on supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader wished President Aliyev “good health, new achievements in the development of a strong and prosperous Azerbaijan, and peace, prosperity and well-being to the Azerbaijani people".
