Turkish president says Azerbaijani army entered Khojaly not like Armenian bandits did earlier

26 September 2023 18:30

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has spoken about the Khojaly genocide and the impact of the restoration of Khojaly under Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.

“We went through this process at least as much as our child. There are wounds caused by this massacre. Of course, the Khojaly massacre is unforgettable for those who survived it, and for us. Armenia is now paying a high price and will continue paying a high price for the Khojaly genocide because one million Azerbaijanis fled from Khojaly and other cities. Where? They fled to Azerbaijan. Ten years later, Azerbaijan has called for accountability for this massacre. It asked in a completely different way and got its lands back. As you know, the US, Russia, France [three Minsk Group powers] did not recognise this right of Azerbaijan for many years. In the end, Azerbaijan itself brought the matter to an end. Who is in Khojaly now? The real owners of Khojaly. May all martyrs rest in peace!” President Erdogan noted, according to Turkiye Gazetesi.

“The Azerbaijani army entered Khojaly to bring peace and tranquillity, rather than chaos, blood and death. It did not enter there, as the Armenian bandits did many years ago. It didn't intend to kill people. It entered Khojaly to bring the peace and tranquillity that this city deserved. It entered its lands victoriously. Now is the time for permanent peace and tranquillity for both Khojaly and Garabagh under Azerbaijan’s sovereignty. Armenia’s duty is to stand for peace to establish and maintain this peace,” President Erdogan added.
