Georgia, European Parliament discuss progress towards EU membership

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola have discussed the country's integration into the EU at a meeting in Brussels.

“The sides discussed Georgia’s progress on the path to joining the EU, as well as the past and current measures to ensure Georgia’s integration into the EU,” TASS reports citing the Georgian government.

Kobakhidze assured Metsola that the Georgian government, under his leadership, continues working to achieve further progress towards EU membership after the country was granted EU candidate status in December 2023. The sides also discussed security issues in the region and in the world.
