Armenians plant mines even in Karabakh cemeteries Public association’s report

Armenians planted landmines even in cemeteries in Karabakh according to a report prepared by the Azerbaijan Campaign to Ban Landmines public association.

There is accurate information about mines planted in cemeteries in Yusifjanli and Garagaji villages of the Aghdam district, Jojug Marjanli and Garajalilar villages of the Jabrayil district, Suarasi village of the Lachin district and Gorgan and Garakollu villages of the Fuzuli district, Caliber.Az reports citing the report.

According to the report, three people were killed and four people were wounded as a result of mine explosions at cemeteries in Yusifjanli and Suarasi. One person was wounded as a result of the explosion of the improvised explosive devices planted in the yards of houses in Zabukh and Sus villages of the Lachin district.

The number of landmine and unexploded ordnance casualties in Azerbaijan has reached 345 since November 2020, the Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) said.

Another Azerbaijani citizen, a resident of Hasangaya village, Aghdara district, Azer Mammadov, 58, was wounded as a result of a mine explosion while grazing cattle on February 5.

Following the liberation of its lands, Azerbaijan began operations in November 2020 to clear its lands of mines, booby traps, and different weaponry left by Armenian troops.

During the period from January 29 to February 4, 16 anti-tank mines, 78 anti-personnel mines, and 150 unexploded ordnance were found and defused in the liberated territories. A 336.5 hectare-area was cleared of mines.
