ANAMA presents innovative demining technologies to NATO partners PHOTO
A delegation from the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), alongside representatives from other state agencies, visited NATO headquarters to discuss ongoing cooperation and humanitarian demining initiatives.
The meeting focused on the current state of Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation and the progress of a project on innovative humanitarian demining methods under the “Science for Peace and Security” program, Caliber.Az reports, citing ANAMA.
The discussions also addressed Azerbaijan’s potential participation in additional projects under the program, the organization of joint trainings and workshops, and the establishment of a NATO trust fund dedicated to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, ANAMA representatives highlighted the humanitarian, economic, and environmental consequences of the landmine problem, emphasizing that mines continue to pose serious obstacles to the return of displaced persons and the reconstruction of affected areas. They reported that since November 2020, mine incidents have killed or injured 410 Azerbaijani citizens.
The delegation also showcased advanced technologies and innovative approaches employed by ANAMA in its demining operations, underscoring the agency’s commitment to improving safety and accelerating recovery in mine-affected regions.
