21 May 2025 20:57

The matter of Western Azerbaijanis returning to their ancestral lands stood in the spotlight at an international conference held in Ankara.

The event titled “Return to Western Azerbaijan as a Key Condition for the Rule of Human Rights” was jointly organized by the Western Azerbaijan Community in partnership with the Azerbaijan-Türkiye House (ATEV), Caliber.Az reports citing local media.

The Baku International Multiculturalism Center, ADA University, and the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) were also key supporters of the event.

The conference was attended by around 250 participants from Azerbaijan and Türkiye, including Efkan Ala, First Deputy Chairman of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK party), as well as representatives from government institutions, universities, academic circles, business and media communities, and NGOs.

Adalat Valiyev, the Head of the Department for Relations with Political Parties and Legislative Authority at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, delivered a message from President Ilham Aliyev to the conference participants, emphasizing the symbolic importance of holding the forum in Türkiye. The conference continued with a series of panel discussions.
