On April 11, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership that have long characterised relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Both sides emphasised the historical and enduring nature of their bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze expressed appreciation for the constructive dialogue he shared with President Aliyev during his working visit to Azerbaijan in January. He underlined the positive trajectory of cooperation between the two nations, noting steady progress across a range of sectors, including trade, the economy, culture, and more. He also stressed that tangible results have already been achieved in the implementation of directives issued to the relevant governmental institutions.
The Georgian Prime Minister added that President Aliyev’s recent comments on Azerbaijan-Georgia relations, delivered during an international forum at ADA University, were met with considerable interest and attention in Georgia.
President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, highlighted the significance of continued unity and solidarity between Azerbaijan and Georgia, particularly in light of ongoing global challenges. He emphasized that regional matters in the South Caucasus should be addressed by the countries of the region themselves, underscoring the value of regional ownership and cooperation.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on a range of issues of mutual interest.
