Azerbaijan-backed new school building opens in Vietnam
A new school building constructed with Azerbaijan’s support has been inaugurated in the village of Luc Yen in Lao Cai province, northeastern Vietnam.
The facility for Tran Phu Primary School was built with funding from the Azerbaijan International Development Assistance Agency under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of efforts to address the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, which struck on September 7–8, 2024, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lao Cai provincial officials, members of the public, and the ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to Vietnam.
According to Vu Thi Hien Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee, the school building stands as a vivid symbol of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
The three-story building, designed to accommodate 1,400 students, has a total area of 825 square meters.
The construction in Luc Yen is not Azerbaijan’s first humanitarian initiative in Vietnam. In 2018, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation built a primary school in the village of Giap Trung in Ha Giang province, and last year Leyla Aliyeva visited a secondary school for visually impaired children in Hanoi, presenting a certificate for financial assistance from the foundation.
