Arab delegations arrive in Azerbaijan for COP29 PHOTO
A series of high-ranking officials from the Middle East and North Africa have arrived in Azerbaijan ahead of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled to take place in Baku.
On November 11, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport to participate in the landmark climate summit. The UAE leader was welcomed by Vugar Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry, along with other senior officials, Caliber.Az reports.
Also arriving on the same day was Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He was greeted by Adil Karimli, Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture, as well as other dignitaries upon his arrival in Baku.
Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, landed in Azerbaijan on November 11 to attend COP29. He was welcomed by Minister Vugar Mustafayev, who was joined by other officials at the airport to receive the Egyptian Prime Minister.
A fourth arrival on November 12 was Abdel-Fattah Al Burhan Abdelrahman Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan. His arrival was marked by a warm welcome from Nadir Zeynalov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Health, and other key officials.
Also arriving on November 12 was Shaikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait. Vusal Nasirli, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, led the delegation welcoming the Kuwaiti Crown Prince at the airport.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, completed the series of arrivals on November 12. He was greeted by Hidayat Abdullayev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, alongside other officials.
The arrivals of these key figures underscore the significance of the COP29 summit, which is expected to attract global attention as world leaders, diplomats, and experts gather in Baku to discuss vital climate and environmental issues.
On November 11, the opening ceremony of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) took place in Baku.
