Armenia lags behind neighbours in global AI adoption – Microsoft
Armenia ranks among the world’s laggards in adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, according to Microsoft’s newly released AI Diffusion Report 2025, which analyses how 170 countries are integrating AI into their economies, science, and public administration.
The report shows that Armenia’s AI diffusion rate stands at just 6.2%, one of the lowest figures across Europe and the Middle East. Microsoft classifies the country among those where AI implementation remains largely symbolic.
Other nations in the bottom ten include Cambodia (4.6%), Tajikistan (5.1%), Turkmenistan (5.1%), Afghanistan (5.1%), Uzbekistan (5.7%), Cuba (5.7%), Rwanda (6.0%), Laos (6.0%), and Sri Lanka (6.2%).
By contrast, neighbouring countries have made far greater progress. Georgia’s AI adoption rate is 17.3%, Azerbaijan’s 14.2%, Türkiye’s 13.4%, Iran’s 9.6%, and Russia’s 7.6%.
The findings suggest that Armenia lags behind all regional peers despite comparable socio-economic conditions and access to digital infrastructure.
