Armenia openly declares about sending contractors to Karabakh What is Baku’s reaction?
Despite the defeat in the 44-day second Armenia-Azerbaijan Karabakh war in 2020, the shock as a result of surrender and even the ongoing negotiation process, the Armenian authorities continue pursuing an aggressive policy and carrying out provocations leading to a new war.
So, the deputy head of the main department for personnel management of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Colonel Sahak Sahakyan, said in an interview with journalists on June 28 that the Armenian military and political leadership had decided that "contract servicemen will serve in Karabakh".
“Our last call is the summer call of 2020 and demobilization will be held from July 1 to August 30, 2022, there will be no more conscripts in Karabakh,” he said.
The colonel said that "a broad package has been created for the attractiveness of the service, according to which contract servicemen will serve".
It is obvious that the Armenian authorities have not drawn conclusions as a result of the recent war (with Azerbaijan). They continue sending their military to the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and it doesn't matter - conscripts or contract soldiers.
There is such a fact that there is a provocation of a conflict situation, and the Russian peacekeeping contingent, whose command seems to have forgotten about paragraph 4 of the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, sees this. Proceeding from this statement, the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed in parallel with the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces.
Not only certain conclusions but also practical steps may be made in Baku soon.
We are sure that the relatives and friends of the Armenian contract servicemen in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan are unlikely to be pleased with these actions. Indeed, there is still a huge area for burying people in Yerablur Military Pantheon.
