Armenia, Poland forge new military-technical partnership
Armenia and Poland have formalized a military-technical cooperation agreement, signaling a new phase in bilateral defence ties.
The agreement was signed by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Polish Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the official visit by an Armenian delegation to Poland, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The move highlights efforts by both nations to expand defence and technical collaboration.
Poland, a NATO member since 1999, actively engages in alliance initiatives on collective defence and military-technical cooperation. Armenia, meanwhile, remains a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a post-Soviet military-political alliance focused on collective security.
However, in 2024, Yerevan effectively suspended its participation in CSTO activities. Prime Minister Pashinyan explained that Armenia paused involvement in the bloc’s events while reviewing the framework of cooperation, citing dissatisfaction with the effectiveness of CSTO mechanisms in delivering collective security.
