Armenia’s top diplomat emphasizes vitality of regional transport connectivity
During a meeting with the delegation of the Council of Europe's Political and Security Committee in Yerevan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan provided insights into the latest developments regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, especially regarding security concerns in the South Caucasus.
Quoted by TASS and citing the Foreign Ministry's press service, Mirzoyan underscored Armenia's eagerness to pursue peace, highlighting the necessity for mutual agreement on pivotal aspects of a peace treaty. This includes mutual acknowledgment of territorial integrity and delineation under the Almaty Declaration of 1991.
In the broader scope of fostering regional economic growth, Mirzoyan accentuated the significance of unblocking transport and economic channels. He particularly pointed out the Crossroads of Peace project, an initiative devised by the Armenian government, as a clear indication of Armenia's commitment to this endeavor.
Mirzoyan further expressed Armenia's alignment with European aspirations, emphasizing that the Armenian people aspire toward European values and principles.
"The people of the Republic of Armenia harbor European aspirations, and we will be steadfast in our pursuit of those aspirations," he affirmed.
