Armenian FM to attend CIS Council meeting in Russia

07 October 2024 11:31

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has announced that Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS, set to take place in Russia’s capital Moscow.

Mirzoyan will embark on a working visit to Moscow on October 7 to attend this meeting, which is scheduled just ahead of the Council of CIS Heads of State, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.

The foreign ministries will assess the preliminary outcomes of their collaborative efforts in the context of Russia's priorities for the 2024 presidency.

The ministers will discuss the prospects for developing multifaceted cooperation within the CIS, including deepening economic integration, addressing both traditional and emerging challenges and threats, and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

Special attention will be given to the preparation and celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

During the meeting, the current international and regional issues will be discussed. Some decisions, aimed at enhancing cooperation in law enforcement and humanitarian fields, as well as improving foreign policy coordination within the CIS, will be made.

The ministers are expected to approve a plan for multilevel inter-ministerial consultations for 2025, as well as agree on the date and venue of the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers.

Most of the documents approved during the session will be forwarded for consideration by the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS.
