Armenian journalist reveals brutal actions of military police against soldiers
Journalist Gayane Zargaryan has revealed new details about the illegal actions of Armenian officers against soldiers.
"During a conversation with a recruit on the phone, who was severely beaten, it became known that one of the officers who hit and then humiliated him was the commander of a unit Col. Garik Muradyan,” Caliber.Az quotes the journalist as saying on her Youtube channel.
"According to the recruit, an argument ensued and he wanted to defend himself. 'Any self-respecting guy would have done the same thing. I responded in the same way,' the recruit said.
It transpired that after the incident, he was sent to the Gafan Military Police where he was beaten for the second time because he was not following orders. 'I told them that I follow orders but the commander gives them out of order. I was beaten by four men. I could clearly see that they were uniformed military police officers,' the soldier said.
In response to my question about why he did not talk about it, the recruit said that he was afraid and could not say anything about the incident to anyone because he thought he might be beaten and tortured again. After the beating, he was sent to the military unit, but because he had a broken arm he was transferred to the hospital.
At the military hospital, he also did not tell them that he had injured his leg and broken his arm, he was afraid. And in the hospital, despite the fact that the recruit told the nurses that the medicines they give him are allergic to him and very bad for his health, they still continue to give him these medicines.
'If one of us gets beaten up, we keep it a secret and it is considered normal. There are other recruits who have been beaten, but I don't want to reveal their names. They were beaten because they did not have a good shave or haircut,' the soldier said.
At the military hospital, he also did not say that he was injured in his leg and broke his arm, he was afraid. And in the hospital, despite the fact that the recruit told the nurses that the medication they give him causes allergies and is very bad for his health, they still continue to give him these drugs.
The soldier told me: 'I am not some kind of a psycho, I am a healthy guy. Before I was conscripted, I passed a medical examination and was quite healthy, but within five days I was brought to this state,'" journalist Zargaryan said on her Youtube channel.
