Armenian PM apologises after wife announces split Updated
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has commented on his wife Anna Hakobyan’s decision to separate from him.
In a public statement, Pashinyan said he respected Hakobyan’s decision, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“I treat Anna’s decision with respect,” he said. “She stood by me during all my difficult days over the past 30 years. She was my pillar and my support. I am not sure whether I was the same for her.
“Perhaps I caused her far more bitterness, for which I apologise,” the Prime Minister added.

Anna Hakobyan has announced that she has separated from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and will move out of the government residence.
Hakobyan clarified that her earlier statement about the termination of her civil marriage to Pashinyan referred to the end of their cohabitation rather than the formal registration of their relationship with the civil registry office, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
She said she would now live in a rented flat, as a property she had purchased remains under construction.
Addressing her financial situation, Hakobyan stated that she has 5 million drams remaining in her bank account and intends to continue her work with the “My Step” foundation.
However, she did not rule out the possibility of facing criminal prosecution in connection with her activities at the foundation.
In a brief statement posted on Facebook on February 17, Hakobyan said her civil marriage with the Armenian prime minister had ended and urged the public to show restraint and respect regarding the matter.
