Armenian opposition slams certification process in law enforcement “Is this your idea of progress?”
A recent report from Armenia’s Ministry of Defence reveals that only 57% of military personnel who took part in the certification process in 2024 passed with a positive evaluation.
Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition faction “I Have Honour" in Armenia’s Parliament, sharply criticised the results, Caliber.Az reports, referencing Armenian media.
"For the National Security Service (NSS), the success rate is even lower at just 35%. In the police force, only 1,031 out of 4,063 officers passed their assessments," he pointed out.
When it comes to the rescue service, of the 1,805 personnel who underwent evaluation, only 496 managed to secure a positive score.
While the Ministry of Defence had the highest (yet still conditional) success rate, Abrahamyan is far from impressed, pointing out that 43% of candidates failed in key areas such as physical fitness, professional skills, drill exercises, and firearms proficiency. He called this a glaring warning sign of deeper issues within the forces.
"And yet, they claim they are conducting reforms, improving, and making progress. Isn’t this the real measure of your work and failures?" Abrahamyan concluded, raising serious questions about the country's ongoing security sector reforms.
