Armenian party launches bid to annul parliamentary election results
Armenian “Wings of Unity” party has said it will seek to annul the 2026 parliamentary elections and hold a repeat vote, according to statements on July 16, with representative Liparit Drmeyan saying it will apply to the Constitutional Court.
He said that out of 17 political forces, only two — the “Wings of Unity” party and the “Strong Armenia” bloc — had submitted complaints to the Central Election Commission, calling for the annulment of the results and a recount of votes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He added that the “Prosperous Armenia” party later also submitted a similar appeal to the CEC.
Drmeyan said there were additional legal procedures available beyond the Constitutional Court appeal, which the party would announce later.
He also outlined allegations by the party regarding irregularities during the electoral process, including the use of administrative resources.
The party is asking the Constitutional Court to overturn the Central Election Commission’s June 17 decision confirming the validity of the election results and the distribution of seats in the National Assembly.
Under Armenian law, political forces may challenge parliamentary election results in the Constitutional Court from June 19.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on June 7, 2026. According to official results, three political forces entered the National Assembly: the “Civil Contract” party received 49.7456% of the vote (726,819 votes), the “Strong Armenia” bloc 23.2710% (340,060 votes), and the “Armenia” bloc 9.9231% (144,983 votes).
The “Prosperous Armenia” party received 58,287 votes (3.9893%) and did not cross the 4% threshold.
