Armenian PM establishes Task Force to examine media content
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has established a working group tasked with reviewing media publications, a government decision published on the official government website announced.
Under the decision, the group is authorized to request documents and information from state institutions, conduct research, and engage specialists as part of its work. It has been instructed to submit its recommendations to the prime minister by July 30.
The document does not specify whether the working group has been created on a temporary basis or will operate as a permanent body.
The group will be chaired by Armenak Khachatryan, Deputy Chief of Prime Minister's Staff.
Its members include officials from the Prime Minister's Office and several government agencies, including Deputy Finance Minister Avag Avanesyan, Head of the Legal Department of the Prime Minister's Office Hayk Kesoyan, Prime Minister's Office representative for social affairs Sergey Tashchyan, and David Ayvazyan, head of the Investigative Committee.
Notably, the working group does not include representatives of the media industry, independent media experts, or communications specialists.
Earlier, Pashinyan said he had instructed officials to address issues related to the government's engagement with the media, including measures to increase the transparency of media financing.
