Armenian PM lauds productive talks with Russian leader at CIS summit
Press Secretary of the Armenian prime minister Nazeli Baghdasaryan has said that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan positively assessed his recent talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, held in Moscow during the CIS summit.
Pashinyan highlighted the fruitful outcomes of the meeting, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"The prime minister views the discussions with President Putin favourably. A wide range of topics were covered, and concrete agreements were reached concerning energy, education, and humanitarian issues," she noted.
President Putin announced that the trade turnover between Russia and Armenia could reach record levels this year.
“Our trade turnover reached $7.4 billion last year while in the first half of this year, it surged 2.5 times to over $8.3 billion. If we continue at this pace, the trade turnover for this year may reach $14-16 billion, which would be a historic high,” the Russian leader stated.
President Putin also suggested discussing educational issues during his talks with the Armenian prime minister.
"Certainly, the humanitarian cooperation aspect is very important," Putin noted during the meeting.
Moreover, during the conversation, Putin announced a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, scheduled for October 22-24.
"I look forward to seeing you in Kazan for the BRICS summit. I hope it will be both useful and interesting. We will hold a bilateral meeting and have the chance to engage with numerous colleagues from several dozen countries participating in this work," the Russian leader said.
In turn, Pashinyan highlighted the active political dialogue between Yerevan and Moscow in recent months.
He noted that during the recent visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk to Armenia, there was a substantial discussion on all agenda items.
"A meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the EAEU was held in Yerevan in early October. We had a substantial discussion regarding our cooperation and the agenda of the Republic of Armenia with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin," Pashinyan added.
