Armenian prime minister rules out conflict with Russia
Armenia will not engage in conflict with Russia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during his election campaign ahead of the June 7 parliamentary elections.
“First of all, because entering into conflict with Russia is not on our scale; we are a modest state. And secondly, do not forget that we are a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union,” PM added.
He accused his opponents of engaging in “cheap provocations” aimed at driving a wedge between Armenia and Russia.
Pashinyan also said he is not concerned that Russia might take any actions under the guise of its 102nd military base to protect its citizens.
“No, there is nothing to fear, because the military base, regardless of Russian laws, must operate within Armenian legislation and under the jurisdiction of Armenia. There is nothing to fear,” he told reporters.
