A major gas transportation facility linked to Gazprom has caught fire in the Russian city of Belgorod following an attack, according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.
Residents of Belgorod and the surrounding region reported numerous explosions during the night of July 7. The acting regional governor said the area had come under a missile attack, resulting in damage to an unspecified facility in Belgorod and to energy infrastructure. He also reported that three people had been injured in the village of Belovskoye.
According to ASTRA’s analysis of eyewitness footage, one of the targeted sites was the Belgorod Linear Production Department of Main Gas Pipelines (LPUMG), located at 89A Michurina Street in Belgorod. A fire broke out at the facility following the attack.
Open-source data indicates that the LPUMG is a branch of “Gazprom Transgaz Moscow,” which is part of Gazprom. The unit is responsible for operating the main gas transportation infrastructure in the Belgorod region and ensuring the reliable delivery of natural gas to local consumers.
Later, Belgorod Region Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported one fatality and three injuries in the region.
“Repeated missile strikes were carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Belgorod and the Belgorod District. Preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties as a result of this latest shelling. According to updated data, a civilian was unfortunately killed in the village of Belovskoye in the Belgorod District as a result of the first missile strike.
I extend my sincere condolences to the family of the deceased. This is a tremendous and irreparable loss for all of us. In Belgorod, a report was received about a fire at an infrastructure facility, and firefighters are working at the scene,” he said.
