Astra: Russia’s Baltic oil terminal on fire after drone strike VIDEO / PHOTO
A devastating fire has erupted at Russia's largest oil terminal on the Baltic Sea, following a nighttime attack on the port of Primorsk, located in the Leningrad Region, Astra reports.
The incident has triggered widespread concerns over the safety of the facility, as satellite images from NASA FIRMS reveal signs of the blaze spreading across the oil storage area.
Local residents have shared dramatic footage showing a helicopter circling the area, and emergency services are reportedly working to contain the fire. The fire is believed to have been sparked after an oil tank at the port was damaged, causing a significant blaze. According to regional authorities, personnel have been evacuated to ensure their safety.

Leningrad Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko confirmed the incident, stating that emergency operations are underway, including firefighting efforts. While the situation remains critical, he assured that measures are being taken to limit the damage.
Over 60 drones were reportedly shot down over the region in connection with the attack, which also disrupted air traffic in the area. At St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport, approximately 100 flights have been either cancelled or delayed due to the ongoing emergency.
Primorsk port, situated about 8 kilometres from the town of Primorsk on the northeastern shores of the Gulf of Finland, is a key terminal for Russia's Baltic Pipeline System (BTS), which transports crude oil to international markets.
It serves as the primary export hub for Russian crude oil and petroleum products, with the pipeline being operated by state-owned company Transneft.
