AZAL confirms fleet safety following Airbus A320 global recall
Airbus has initiated a global recall of its A320 aircraft, affecting nearly half of the fleet worldwide. Approximately 6,000 aircraft require a software update to address detected issues in the flight control system.
In response to an inquiry from Caliber.Az, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) stated that the airline promptly conducted technical inspections of its fleet after receiving official directives from Airbus.
As a result of the inspection, three aircraft were identified for which Airbus recommended corrective action. AZAL followed these recommendations and reverted the software on these aircraft to a previously stable version.
According to Airbus, the directives were issued after malfunctions were detected in the A320 control system. In particular, intense solar radiation could distort data used for flight management, prompting the unscheduled software update and corresponding instructions to operators.
AZAL confirmed that all technical issues were addressed promptly, and the entire fleet is now operating normally.
"Flight safety is our top priority," the airline said. "All operations fully comply with the manufacturer’s requirements and international civil aviation standards."
This proactive response ensures that AZAL’s A320 fleet continues to operate safely while adhering to Airbus’s updated guidance.
