Azerbaijan Airlines transports 41% of all passengers via int'l flights
First Vice President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Samir Rzayev has said that 36 foreign air carriers made regular flights to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in 2022 transporting 2.2 million people.
“Today these figures are record-breaking,” Rzayev said in an exclusive interview with Azertag.
He added that AZAL transported 41 per cent of the total number of passengers via international flights, while the remaining 59 per cent were transported via other airlines.
Rzayev said that at present, Azerbaijan Airlines’ air fleet includes 29 various aircraft, which are, on average, 11 years in service.
“According to the Strategic Development Plan, the airline's fleet will include only two types of aircraft by 2030 to avoid costs associated with aircraft maintenance or personnel training,” Rzayev said in an exclusive interview with Azertag.
He added that the fleet will consist exclusively of the Airbus A320 Neo narrow-body aircraft, as well as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner wide-body airliners.
