China-Europe express boosts trade through Middle Corridor, Beijing envoy says
The launch of the China-Europe express route via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, has driven a substantial increase in cargo volumes, China's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said at the First Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025) in Baku.
The diplomat stressed the strategic importance of the route in connecting Asia and Europe and enhancing logistics across the region, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“All countries benefit from this, and it is a great example of cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative,” she said.
Ambassador Lu highlighted Azerbaijan’s active participation in the initiative from its inception.
“Azerbaijan has been involved from the very beginning, and joint work in this direction continues to develop at a high level. Our cooperation is based on principles of joint planning, construction, and shared benefit. Through this, China is opening its doors wider to the world, while all South Caucasus and Central Asian countries are actively engaging in the initiative,” she added.
The ambassador also noted China’s efforts to strengthen regional railway connections, including further development of the Middle Corridor and new networks such as the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
