Baku cyber forum: Moldova official says digital threats know no borders
Cyber threats do not recognise national borders, making stronger practical cooperation between states essential to counter growing digital risks, Moldova’s Cyber Security Agency Director Mihai Lupascu said on June 4.
Speaking at a panel discussion during the 4th National Cybersecurity Forum in Baku, Mihai Lupascu stressed that governments must take concrete steps to deepen coordination in the cybersecurity domain, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that Moldova had already strengthened its regulatory framework for protecting critical infrastructure.
“Last year, the Moldovan government approved all security requirements for critical infrastructure facilities. Thus, starting this year, we are able to carry out security inspections, monitor the proper implementation of the relevant regulatory framework, and ensure compliance with these requirements,” Lupascu said.
He also highlighted a persistent shortage of qualified cybersecurity professionals, warning that human capital remains one of the sector’s key vulnerabilities.
Lupascu added that regulation and public policy continue to play a central role in strengthening national cybersecurity systems, alongside technical and institutional capacity-building.
