Middle Corridor no longer alternative route, Georgian official says
The Middle Corridor is no longer an alternative route but has become an international transport corridor that has gained significant importance in recent years, Georgian Deputy Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Tamar Ioseliani has stated.
He said the full commissioning of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line marks a historic milestone and represents a strategically important project jointly implemented by Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Ioseliani noted that the project has added an entirely new and modern railway line and infrastructure to the region’s transport network, helping to further strengthen connectivity between Europe and Asia.
“The project creates new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation, which will improve freight transportation services in the region and further strengthen Georgia’s role within the framework of the Middle Corridor,” she stressed.
