Azerbaijan applies for UNWTO Executive Council membership PHOTO

Azerbaijan applied for membership in the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for 2023-2027.

According to Report, State Tourism Agency Chairman Fuad Naghiyev made the statement at a meeting with UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili at the Organisation's headquarters in Madrid.

Nagiyev emphasised the significance of the Secretary-General's meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during the official visit of Pololikashvili to Azerbaijan in April this year.

In turn, Mr. Pololikashvili praised Azerbaijan's financial support to the Global Youth Tourism Summit which was held by UNWTO for the first time this year. The organisation's Secretary-General praised the activity of Azerbaijani experts currently working at UNWTO with the support of the Azerbaijani government.
