Azerbaijan Bar Association: Rights of detained Armenian separatists secured

All the rights of Armenian separatists in custody are fully guaranteed, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Bar Association Anar Bagirov told journalists.

He noted that lawyers are providing legal assistance to these people not only at the expense of the state but also on a contractual basis, Azertag reports.

"This shows that the independent Azerbaijani Bar Association guarantees the constitutional and international rights of everyone. Legal assistance is provided to everyone regardless of public danger and offence severity," Bagirov said.

"Azerbaijani society and the international community are witnessing that in our country everyone is entitled to quality legal aid. We have not received any complaints in this respect. Neither the relatives of those arrested nor international organisations have complained about it. On the contrary, international bodies are pleased to see that those detained have been guaranteed rights. Everybody can see that Azerbaijani attorneys perform their professional duties according to their oaths," he said.
