Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Europe take steps toward green energy corridor
A key meeting discussing the creation of a green energy corridor between Azerbaijan, Central Asia, and Europe took place in Tashkent, with representatives from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The initiative aims to bolster energy cooperation and promote sustainable energy solutions across the region, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy.
Orkhan Zeynalov, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Energy, represented the country at the discussions, which focused on the development of green energy projects.
According to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy, Zeynalov highlighted the successful progress of Azerbaijan’s energy sector, underscoring achievements in renewable energy and green energy corridors.
He stressed the significant role of political will and high-level visits in fostering deeper bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
"The political support from the heads of state and the regular exchange of visits provide a strong foundation for advancing cooperation in energy and other areas," Zeynalov remarked.
The initiative, he emphasized, also aligns with Azerbaijan's broader commitments to international climate goals, particularly those outlined at COP29.
At the meeting, attention was also directed toward specific projects aimed at developing and transmitting green energy between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The proposed green energy corridor seeks to leverage the region's renewable energy potential, creating a sustainable energy network that will benefit both regional and European markets.
