Azerbaijan, China sign major energy deals, marking new era of cooperation
As part of the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China, a series of significant agreements were signed in the energy sector, marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Among the pivotal documents signed was an Investment Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and Universal Solar Azerbaijan Ltd. for the development of a 100 MW solar power plant in the Gobustan region of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
This project, which aligns with Azerbaijan's growing commitment to renewable energy, is set to enhance the country's solar energy capacity and promote sustainable development.
Additionally, an Executive Agreement was inked between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd., outlining a collaborative effort for the assessment, development, and implementation of an offshore wind energy project in Azerbaijan. This initiative aims to further diversify Azerbaijan's energy sources, tapping into offshore wind potential as part of the nation’s broader strategy to transition to greener energy alternatives.
The agreements come as part of a broader effort to strengthen strategic ties between Azerbaijan and China, particularly in the energy sector, and reflect both nations' shared goals of enhancing energy security and sustainability. The partnership also underscores the deepening of economic relations between the two countries, with both sides eager to capitalize on opportunities for mutual growth and technological exchange.
