Azerbaijan, China sign partnership accord, discuss multifacted ties PHOTO
A delegation of the Baku executive power led by Mayor Eldar Azizov has paid a working visit to Sichuan Province (China) at the invitation of its leadership.
As part of the visit, Azizov met Province Governor Huan Jiang. The meeting noted the high level of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations, which are actively developing and strengthening as a result of the efforts of President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It was noted that Azerbaijan and its capital Baku are successfully developing at a rapid pace and have taken a worthy place in the world. The governor noted the stability and development of Azerbaijan, which was able to liberate its lands. Taking into account the interest of Chinese citizens in our country, the governor proposed to open a direct flight Chengdu-Baku.
In turn, Eldar Azizov noted the successes of Sichuan Province, as well as the development of Baku, the Chinese-Azerbaijani friendly and partnership relations that are strengthening thanks to the efforts of the political leaders of our countries, stressing that there is a huge potential in the partnership between Baku and Sichuan.
The sides signed a memorandum on the establishment of friendly and partnership relations between Baku and Sichuan Province, which reflects the development of economic, scientific, technical, medical, educational, cultural, sports and tourism ties.
Azizov also visited the Chinese capital Beijing and met with the deputy mayor of the city, Mr Sma Hong, discussing with her plans for further cooperation between the two capitals. Sma Hun emphasized the stability of Azerbaijan, the fact that our country is one of the most developed in the post-Soviet space. The development of Azerbaijan and Baku, in turn, attracts great attention of Chinese businessmen.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the visit of the Chinese delegation to Baku to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the two cities.
Azerbaijan is China’s key trade partner in the South Caucasus region. In 2023, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $1.05 million.
Azerbaijan has a trade mission in China, trade and wine houses, trade branches in trade networks and measures are continuously taken to develop cooperation. In addition, there are companies with Chinese capital operating in Azerbaijan. Successful investment cooperation is underway.
