Azerbaijan enhances border measures to prevent monkeypox spread - agency
The State Customs Committee (SCC) has implemented several measures at airports and other checkpoints across Azerbaijan's state border to prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus.
“Based on data from the World Health Organisation, countries at risk of monkeypox have been identified, and special attention is being paid to passengers entering from these regions,” the SCC stated in response to a local media inquiry, as reported by Caliber.Az.
“At state border crossings, the SCC's medical service department regularly conducts training sessions for customs officers on particularly dangerous infections. Recently, more focus has been placed on recognizing the clinical symptoms, infection routes, and prevention methods for monkeypox. Technical capabilities are utilized to identify passengers with fever at airports and other border points.”
"The SCC also noted that the number of training sessions has increased concerning initial medical examinations and epidemiological surveys. If a suspected case is identified, further steps will be coordinated with Azerbaijan’s Health Ministry, the Territorial Medical Units Management Association (TABIB), and relevant structures per the ‘instruction on anti-epidemic measures against particularly dangerous infections at customs and border crossing points of the Azerbaijani Republic.’”
