Azerbaijan extracts 200 billion cubic metres of gas from Shah Deniz field

To date, 200 billion cubic metres of gas have been produced from the Shah Deniz field, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

Some 200 billion cubic metres of gas were produced on August 26, that is, 16 and a half years after the first commercial gas production from the field was announced, as well as the South Caucasus gas pipeline was commissioned, Report informs citing the operator of the block of deposits - BP-Azerbaijan company.

The first production on December 15, 2006, was the beginning of the first stage of the field development. Since then, gas from Shah Deniz has been successfully and reliably supplied to the markets of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye as part of the first stage.

Currently, on average, 72.6 million cubic metres of gas per day are produced from the Shah Deniz Alfa (11 wells) and Shah Deniz Bravo (14 wells) platforms.
