Azerbaijan, Georgia sign energy deal to transit electricity to Türkiye
Azerbaijan and Georgia have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the transit of electricity to Türkiye, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy.
The agreement was signed during the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Baku, where he attended the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Officials said the two countries also reaffirmed their strategic partnership by signing a broader package of agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in energy, economy, and regional connectivity.
The agreements include arrangements on the supply of natural gas to Georgia, the continuation of transit routes for additional Azerbaijani gas exports to international markets, and provisions for electricity supply to Georgia.
They also cover the transit of electricity through Georgia to Türkiye, alongside a protocol confirming the completion and modernization of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway project.
