Azercosmos satellite service exports jump 54% in first five months of 2026
Azerbaijan's space agency, Azercosmos, increased exports of satellite telecommunications services by more than 50% in the first five months of 2026, reflecting stronger international demand for its commercial satellite operations.
According to the latest Export Review published by the Centre for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, Azercosmos exported satellite telecommunications services worth $10.8 million between January and May, a 54.3% increase compared with the same period last year.
The agency provided services to around 90 companies across 33 countries during the reporting period. While the geographical reach narrowed from 40 countries in January–May 2025, export revenue rose sharply.
The United Kingdom was the largest market for Azercosmos' satellite telecommunications services, accounting for $1.8 million in exports, followed by Luxembourg with $1.3 million. Türkiye, Pakistan and Sweden completed the top five importers, with purchases worth $490,000, $486,000 and $187,200, respectively.
Official data showed that exports generated 63% of Azercosmos' total revenue during the five-month period, underlining the agency's continued reliance on international markets.
Despite the strong start to 2026, Azercosmos' revenue from the commercial operation of its satellites totalled $18.1 million in 2025, down 2.2% from the previous year, according to official statistics.
