An event on the 108th anniversary of Türkiye’s victory in the battle of Canakkale - March 18 has been held at the memorial to Turkish soldiers in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.
Chargé d'Affaires of the Turkish embassy in Baku Zeynep Kivilcim, military attache, General Zekeriya Yalcin, representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ufuk Turganer, advisor and staff of the Turkish embassy took part in the event, Anadolu reports.
The guests revered the memory of the martyrs with a minute of silence.
The national anthems of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Turkish Republic were performed.
Kivilcim signed a book of memory and laid flowers at the memorial.
Commemorative events were also held at Turkish schools under the Turkish Ministry of National Education in Baku.
The event participants revered the memory of those killed during the February earthquakes with a minute of silence.
During her speech, Kivilcim spoke about the significance of the memorable day of March 18 for Türkiye.
Students of the Baku Turkish Lyceum read poems. The verses from the holy book of Muslims - the Quran were read and prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of those who died during earthquakes with epicentres in Kahramanmaras.
