Azerbaijan, Hungary strengthen bilateral ties during talks in Samarkand UPDATED
On the sidelines of an official working visit to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó to discuss the development of bilateral relations.
FM Bayramov emphasized the importance of the ongoing political dialogue between Baku and Budapest, noting that mutual visits, consultations, and continuous engagement have significantly contributed to the deepening of bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The ministers exchanged views on avenues for bilateral and multilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, energy security, renewable energy, humanitarian initiatives, education, and culture. Particular attention was given to the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in identifying opportunities to further enhance economic collaboration.
Both Bayramov and Szijjártó highlighted the strategic importance of renewable energy development and transmission, underscoring its role as a cornerstone of the Azerbaijan-Hungary partnership. The two ministers also agreed on the continued importance of advancing the Black Sea subsea power cable project.
Bayramov commended Hungary for supporting the reconstruction of territories liberated from occupation, underlining the collaborative spirit between the two nations.
In addition, the discussion covered regional security issues and other matters of mutual interest, reinforcing the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and Hungary to strengthen their strategic and economic partnership.
