Azerbaijan, International Energy Agency agree on joint cooperation within COP29
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol on June 3.
The sides discussed the situation on the world oil and gas markets, factors influencing the dynamics of gas demand in Europe, the growth of renewable energy consumption, as well as current trends in energy supply during the meeting, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
“Stressing that Azerbaijan has already proven that it is a reliable energy partner of Europe, Birol expressed gratitude to our country for its support in supplying gas to Europe during difficult periods in energy supply,” the message says.
Shahbazov informed Birol about Azerbaijan’s policy towards renewable energy, the concept of development of Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur and Nakhchivan as a “green energy zone”, and also discussed the activity of “Caspian Sea-Black Sea-Europe”, “Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Europe” and “Central Asia-Azerbaijan-Europe” green energy corridors.
The sides also discussed the issues strengthening the network, which plays an important role in integrating the renewable energy into the energy system during the transition to green energy.
The sides within COP29 agreed on joint cooperation with the IEA on the energy agenda.
