Azerbaijan, Iran discuss bilateral consular issues
On May 31, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Iran, Ali Alizada, met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Affairs, Vahid Jalalzadeh.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on bilateral consular issues, according to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
This meeting builds on earlier consular consultations held in Tehran on April 15, where delegations from both countries gathered to review and enhance cooperation in consular and legal matters. The discussions focused on protecting the rights and legal interests of Azerbaijani and Iranian citizens, providing effective consular assistance, and improving coordination between law enforcement, migration, customs, and border control agencies.
The April consultations included officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy in Tehran, Consulate General in Tabriz, as well as Iranian foreign ministry officials and representatives from relevant state institutions. Both sides emphasised the importance of close collaboration to address existing challenges and develop joint initiatives.
