Azerbaijan, Iran discuss current state of relations
Azerbaijani President's representative for special assignments Khalaf Khalafov held meetings with Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on October 4.
The meeting took place as part of Khalafov’s visit to Iran, Caliber.Az reports.
The sides discussed the current state of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, mutual steps for the development of bilateral ties and transition to a new stage were discussed at the meetings.
They also discussed the resumption of work of the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran in the context of punishing the terrorist who attacked the embassy on January 27 in the most severe way.
In addition, the officials shared views on important transport and communication, economic and energy projects that serve the development of bilateral relations.
Both sides supported the North-South transport corridor, projects to create new communication links between the East Zangezur economic region of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via Iran, energy projects, particularly the commissioning of the Khudaferin and Giz Galasy dams, and other energy projects on the Araz River.
They noted that multifaceted Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, including military and military-technical cooperation, serve the establishment of peace, trust and development in the region.
Moreover, the Iranian side expressed its intention to expand and develop ties with the Republic of Azerbaijan in all spheres.
