Azerbaijan-Iraq consular consultations focus on strengthening relations PHOTO
On March 1, foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Iraq held the first consular consultations in Baku.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by head of Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emil Safarov and the Iraqi delegation was led by Counsellor of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Ali Ameen Al Sadi, Caliber.Az reports.
During the consultations, the current state of and prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq in the consular sphere, possibilities of signing new bilateral documents and digitalization of consular services were discussed. The sides also discussed issues of protection of rights and freedoms of citizens of the two countries, strengthening measures in the field of consular assistance to convicts, expansion of cooperation in the field of extradition of convicts. The sides exchanged experience on the latest innovations implemented in the consular field, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two countries in the field of migration and justice.
The event concluded in reaching an agreement to hold the next consultations this year in Baghdad.
