Azerbaijan issues data on state border violation cases for July
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan has said that 27 people were detained due to a violation of the country’s state borders in July.
Last month, 21 citizens of Azerbaijan, 2 of Iran, 1 of Iraq, 1 of Uzbekistan, and 2 of Pakistan were detained upon violating the state border regime, Report informs.
As part of measures to combat illegal migration, 19 people were detained for attempting to cross the border with fake passports, Schengen visas, and stamps.
Appropriate legal measures were taken against 580 persons detained for violating the rules of the border regime.
Law enforcement agencies detained 239 wanted persons during July this year. Some 516 people with overseas travel bans were stopped while trying to leave the country. At the same time, 15 people who were previously deported from Azerbaijan had been detained upon entering the country.
As part of measures to combat drug trafficking, about 145,5 kilograms of narcotic substances, and 16,197 psychotropic pills were seized.
Smuggling was prevented for a total amount of 2,440.591 million manats (nearly $1.44 million), including two handguns, one hunting rifle of 16-gauge, one piece of night vision device, five bullets, one dagger, tobacco products, gold and jewellery.
