Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan review energy, connectivity, regional cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Aghalar Atamoglanov, held a working meeting with Yernar Lazar, Adviser on International Affairs to the President of Kazakhstan, to discuss the expanding bilateral agenda between the two countries.
The talks covered a broad range of issues related to Kazakh-Azerbaijani cooperation, with a particular focus on joint projects in the energy sector, including renewable energy initiatives, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The two sides paid special attention to the progress of a strategic project to lay a fibre-optic cable along the bed of the Caspian Sea. The project is expected to enhance digital connectivity between the two countries and strengthen regional communications infrastructure.
Discussions also addressed coordination within international organisations, preparations for high-level visits, and efforts to deepen cultural and humanitarian ties. The officials reviewed ongoing work under existing bilateral mechanisms, including the Intergovernmental Commission, which oversees cooperation in trade, economic, scientific and technical fields.
Both parties welcomed Azerbaijan’s participation in the C5+1 format, expressing confidence that it would provide additional momentum for broader regional cooperation.
The meeting also touched on recent regional developments. The participants expressed confidence that the Joint Declaration signed on August 8, 2025 in Washington following talks between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia, as well as continued efforts toward peace, would help open transport and communication links and boost trade across the region.
