Azerbaijan key player in regional, global diplomacy, says former EU official
Former President of the European Council, Charles Michel has praised Azerbaijan for its important role in regional diplomacy and international cooperation.
Speaking to AZERTAC, Michel emphasized the significance of the Global Baku Forum as a platform for dialogue among experienced politicians and experts from around the world.
Michel said that the Baku Forum allowed participants to exchange views and deepen mutual understanding, adding that events like this contributed to new ideas and helped ensure greater stability, security, and prosperity.
He noted that Azerbaijan is especially influential in developing connections with the Caucasus and Central Asia. By hosting international events, the country not only demonstrates its hospitality but also strengthens global cooperation and fosters ties between diverse regions.
Recalling his multiple visits to Baku, Michel described the city as a key venue for international gatherings, highlighting its role in promoting cross-border dialogue.
Looking ahead, he stressed that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum this year will create opportunities in sustainable urban development and enhance international collaboration. “Events like these enhance the exchange of experience between countries and provide an important platform for jointly discussing global challenges,” Michel added.
