Azerbaijan, Latvia discuss agriculture, healthcare, parliamentary cooperation
A meeting between members of the Azerbaijan-Latvia Interparliamentary Relations Working Group and Edgars Skuja, Latvia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, has highlighted key advancements in bilateral relations between the two nations. The session, held in Baku, aimed to introduce the Ambassador to the newly established friendship group in the Azerbaijani Parliament, following recent parliamentary elections.

In May 2025, Latvia’s Minister of Agriculture visited Azerbaijan to participate in agricultural and food industry exhibitions. The meeting also stressed the importance of enhancing interparliamentary cooperation. Both sides agreed on the necessity of expanding ties between the Azerbaijani Parliament and Latvia's Saeima, organising reciprocal visits, and ensuring mutual support on international platforms.
In addition, the ambassador was briefed on key political developments in Azerbaijan and the broader region. These included Azerbaijan’s efforts to foster peace with Armenia, the outcomes of the Washington Summit, and ongoing reconstruction projects in the country’s recently liberated territories. The implementation of the "Great Return" State Program, which aims to resettle displaced populations in those territories, was also discussed.
The meeting was attended by several prominent Azerbaijani MPs, including Sevil Mikayılova, Elchin Mirzabayli, Azer Allahveranov, Mahir Suleymanli, Malik Hasanov, and Aydin Huseynov, among others.
