Azerbaijan, Latvia sign military cooperation agreement PHOTO
On April 26, Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, received a delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of Latvia, Artis Pabriks, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
Hasanov said that military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia, based on friendly relations, is carried out both within the framework of various NATO programs and on bilateral basis, and is steadily evolving, according to the press service of Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.
For his part, Pabriks noted that the relations between the two states were sealed with the bonds of friendship.
The Latvian official said that Riga was an important partner of Baku in European security organizations and NATO, noting the readiness of Latvian specialists to take part in the process of clearing the liberated Azerbaijani territories from landmines and unexploded munitions.
During the talks, the issues of expanding military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia were also discussed. The sides exchanged views on the military-political situation in the region, security issues, as well as prospects for the development of relations.
At the end of the meeting, the ministers inked an agreement on military cooperation.
