Putin: Russia open to new members in Eurasian Economic Union
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasised that the doors of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) remain open to new participants.
Speaking at the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders, the Russian president highlighted ongoing improvements in Russia’s trade relations with CIS member countries, Caliber.Az reports via Belarusian media.
According to him, a draft agreement has been prepared to grant the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) observer status within the CIS.
He extended an invitation to the CIS leaders for an informal meeting in Russia later this year to further strengthen ties.
Putin also offered a generally positive assessment of the recent summit held in Alaska with US President Donald Trump, noting that Russia is basing its approach to resolving the war in Ukraine on key provisions discussed during the meeting.
