Putin: Armenia’s estimate of trade with Russia "too low"
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed differing views on the volume of trade between their countries during the CIS summit.
As reported by TASS, Putin questioned the Armenian assessment of mutual trade, suggesting it was too low.
“How much trade turnover do we have with Armenia now?” Putin asked, highlighting the benefits of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
“It’s already $4 billion this year,” Pashinyan responded.
“No,” the Russian president disagreed.
“Last year it was about $9 billion,” Pashinyan attempted to clarify.
“More,” Putin interjected. “It was more last year, and it will be more this year. It’s obvious, simply.”
According to Moscow’s data, trade between Russia and Armenia surged in 2024, reaching $11.7 billion.
